Supporting Careers Across the Curriculum

Every member of staff at Prenton High School has a role in helping students recognise their strengths, explore opportunities and understand how their learning connects to future pathways.

Our careers programme develops progressively from Year 7 to Year 11. Subject teachers, form tutors and support staff can help students make these connections through everyday conversations, curriculum activities and wider school experiences.

How staff can support careers learning

  • Explain how subject knowledge and skills are used in different jobs and industries.
  • Introduce a diverse range of careers and challenge stereotypes about who can pursue them.
  • Help students recognise the transferable skills they develop, including communication, teamwork, organisation and problem-solving.
  • Encourage students to explore academic, technical and vocational pathways.
  • Promote relevant careers events, employer encounters and opportunities.
  • Support students in reflecting on their experiences and identifying questions or next steps.

Understand the programme

Read our Careers Programme 2026/27 to understand the five-year careers journey and how classroom learning contributes to students’ wider careers education.
