Student Voice: You Say, We Do!
Your Voice. Your School. Your Future.
At Prenton High School, we believe that students should play an active role in shaping the school community they belong to.
Student voice is at the heart of our Student Life & Leadership programme. Through surveys, consultations, form discussions and regular leadership meetings, students are encouraged to share their experiences, express their opinions and contribute ideas for positive change.
Our approach is guided by a simple commitment:
You say, we do!
We want students to know that their views are valued, their ideas are taken seriously and their contributions can make a genuine difference.
From curriculum improvements and extracurricular activities to charity fundraising, wellbeing initiatives and environmental projects, student voice helps shape life at Prenton.
How Student Voice Works
Student voice is more than an occasional survey. It is an ongoing conversation between students, staff and school leaders.
We gather and respond to student feedback through:
- Form Leaders – representing the views of their form groups, gathering feedback and sharing ideas.
- Prenton Parliamentarians – discussing school-wide priorities, proposing improvements and helping turn ideas into action.
- Student Senior Leadership Team (SSLT) – supporting and leading student initiatives, events and projects.
- Student leadership groups – focusing on wellbeing, sustainability, culture, enrichment and community engagement.
- Surveys and consultations – providing opportunities for students across the school to contribute to decisions.
- Everyday conversations – encouraging students to share feedback through form time, lessons and wider school life.
Our student leadership groups include representatives from Years 7–11, with meetings taking place fortnightly during Week 2 of the school timetable, supported and led by members of our SSLT.
These regular opportunities help ensure that student voice is embedded in school life rather than limited to individual events.
Student Leadership: From Ideas to Action
Our Student Senior Leadership Team and wider student leadership groups play an important role in developing student-led initiatives.
Through student consultation, priorities have been identified for each team’s work across three areas:
Community Volunteering
Activities that support local people, organisations and communities.
Fundraising
Student-led events and initiatives that contribute to our shared #TeamPrentonTogether priorities.
Awareness and Advocacy
Activities that promote understanding of important issues, including wellbeing, sustainability, cultural diversity and active citizenship.
Our teams are working towards delivering activities across these areas during the academic year.
Examples of student-selected priorities include the Global Snack Shack, Food Bank Donation Station, Mental Health Day, Clean Air Day, fundraising sales and other student-led events.
By involving students in the planning and delivery of activities, we provide opportunities to develop leadership, organisation, resilience, initiative and communication (LORIC).
Listening, Responding and Improving
Not every suggestion can be implemented immediately, but every contribution helps us better understand students’ experiences, interests and priorities.
We aim to make student voice meaningful by:
- Providing regular opportunities for students to share their views.
- Involving students in decisions that affect school life.
- Explaining how feedback has influenced decisions.
- Sharing examples of changes made through ‘You say, we do!’
- Reviewing activities and gathering further feedback.
- Encouraging students to evaluate the impact of their initiatives.
Student feedback also helps us identify where further improvements may be needed. For example, following Sports Day 2026, students shared positive feedback about the atmosphere, teamwork and house spirit while suggesting improvements to event information, announcements, shade, hydration and participation opportunities. These suggestions have informed planning priorities for future Sports Days.

Every Voice Matters
We recognise that students communicate their views in different ways and that meaningful participation should not depend on confidence in public speaking or holding a formal leadership position.
Through surveys, form discussions, representative groups and everyday conversations, we aim to provide different ways for students to contribute.
Our commitment is to ensure that students feel listened to, respected and empowered to make a positive difference.
Student voice is not simply about asking questions. It is about building a school community where students help shape the experiences, opportunities and decisions that affect them.
Your voice matters. Your ideas matter. Your contribution makes a difference.
You say, we do!
