Belonging to #TeamPrenton
At Prenton High School, we believe that students thrive when they feel they belong. A strong sense of belonging helps students feel safe, valued, respected and connected to the school community, allowing them to grow both academically and personally.
Belonging is at the heart of our #TeamPrenton ethos. We want every student to feel proud to be part of our school, confident to be themselves and supported to achieve their full potential. When students feel connected to school, they are more likely to attend regularly, engage positively in lessons, take part in wider opportunities and develop strong relationships with others.
Through our values of trust, respect, integrity, kindness and endeavour, we work together to create a school culture where every student knows they matter.

Our Student Life and Leadership vision is built around three key principles:
Belong
Helping every student feel included, welcomed and connected within the school community.
Be Heard
Ensuring students have meaningful opportunities to share their views, shape change and influence school life.
Lead
Providing opportunities for students to develop confidence, leadership and responsibility through enrichment, student voice and community engagement.
How We Promote Belonging
Strong Relationships
Positive relationships between students, staff and families are central to school life at Prenton. We create supportive environments where students feel known, listened to and encouraged to succeed.
Student Voice
We believe students should play an active role in shaping their school experience. Through our SSLT teams, Form Leaders, surveys and Prenton Parliament, students contribute ideas, influence decisions and lead change through our “You Said, We Did” approach.
Enrichment Opportunities
We offer a wide range of clubs, trips, leadership roles and enrichment activities to help students discover new interests, build friendships and develop confidence outside the classroom.
Our enrichment programme encourages students to:
- Try new experiences
- Build teamwork and communication skills
- Develop confidence and resilience
- Feel connected to the wider school community
Students are encouraged to commit to enrichment opportunities across each half-term to develop skills, relationships and a sense of achievement.
Leadership Opportunities
Students can take part in a variety of leadership roles including:
- Senior Student Leadership Team (SSLT)
- Prenton Parliamentarians
- Green Team
- Team Thrive
- Faith & Culture Champions
- Student Life Leaders
- Aspire+ Programme Leaders
- Sports Leaders
- Form Leaders
- Transition Leaders
- Reading Ambassadors
These opportunities help students develop leadership, responsibility and pride in contributing to school life.
Transition and Mentoring
We recognise that starting secondary school is a significant step. Through transition events, mentoring, induction activities and student leadership support, we help students feel welcomed and confident as they become part of #TeamPrenton.
Our student leaders support younger students during induction events and throughout the school year, helping to create a positive and inclusive environment.
Celebrating Diversity and Inclusion
We are proud of our diverse school community and work hard to ensure all students feel respected, represented and included.
Through awareness events, cultural celebrations, wellbeing initiatives and community partnerships, students are encouraged to value difference, show kindness and support one another.
Community and Volunteering
Belonging extends beyond the school gates. Students are encouraged to make a positive difference through volunteering, fundraising and community projects.
As part of our #TeamPrenton Together initiative, student leadership teams complete:
- Community volunteering activities
- Awareness campaigns
- Fundraising projects supporting school initiatives, charities and the Year 11 Prom
These experiences help students develop empathy, responsibility and a sense of pride in their community. As chosen through student voice, all fundraising completed through our Student Life and Leadership programme will contribute towards our shared fundraising initiative, #TeamPrenton Together. Funds raised by students throughout the year will be divided between student-led school improvement projects, a student-selected charity and support towards the Year 11 Prom, ensuring fundraising has a positive impact both within school and across the wider community.

A Culture of Belonging
At Prenton High School, belonging is not just an idea — it is something we actively build every day through relationships, opportunities, support and student voice.
We are proud to create a school where students:
- Feel safe and supported
- Are encouraged to be themselves
- Have opportunities to contribute and lead
- Celebrate one another’s successes
- Feel proud to be part of #TeamPrenton
Together, we are building a school community where everyone can belong, be heard and lead.
